FALL AND SPRING RECITALS
The fall and spring recitals are opportunities for students to share their musical accomplishments with a supportive audience of family and friends. Performance motivates students to practice their very best and provides inspiration as they hear each other play. FEDERATION FESTIVAL This event is very similar to Music Day except that students earn points each year that lead to a gold cup after three to four years. One of the two required pieces must be written by an American composer. |
GMTA THEORY TEST
Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) designs this theory test in Levels 1 – 5 that covers chords, key signatures, rhythm and ear-training. Over a period of months, students are carefully prepared to take the appropriate level, and those receiving a 90 or higher merit special recognition on the GMTA website. FALL FESTIVAL Students perform in a recital while simultaneously being critiqued by a judge on both their performance and their stage presence. In addition to memorizing one movement of a sonatina or sonata, students are also inspired by hearing the students of many different teachers play the piano. GMTA LOCAL AUDITIONS The GMTA Spring Audition is the biggest competition for piano students in the state of Georgia. Students compete with others from their same grade level, starting at the local level and hopefully progressing to the regional, and then the state level. This event is reserved for serious students who are heavily invested in practicing! |
